Two books with Žarko Radakovic: Ponanvljanje (Repetitions) and Vampiri & Razumni recnik  (Vampires & A Reasonable Dictionary)—Serbo-Croatian versions published in Belgrade, the English versions with punctum books, Brooklyn.

Sam Rushforth and I wrote the series “Wild Rides, Wild Flowers: Biking and Botanizing the Great Western Trail” which appeared for four years in Catalyst Magazine and then was published as a book with Torrey House Press: Wild Rides and Wildflowers: Philosophy and Botany with Bikes.

 

I translated Peter Handke’s A Journey to the Rivers: Justice for Serbia  (Viking) and Handke’s play Voyage by Dugout, the Play of the Film of the War  (PAJ). My translation of Handke’s book To Duration, A Poem was published by Cannon, Amsterdam.

 

Reviews of books and art and jazz have appeared inThe Bloomsbury Review, Open Letters Monthly, The Salt Lake Observer, and Catalyst Magazine .

 

I am Professor of Integrated Studies, Philosophy and Humanities at Utah Valley University. Scholarly work includes literary-critical articles on Goethe, Schiller, Kleist, Thomas Mann, Rilke, Grass, Handke, Steinbeck, and O'Connor.

 

My wife historian Lyn Bennett and I have just finished  a book about how barbed wire was given meaning in late 19th-century advertising and then in literature of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. (“It was a nun they say invented barbed wire,” opines a character in James Joyce's Ulysses .) 

 

I live in Woodland Hills, Utah, the proud father of Joe, Maren, Tom, Nate, Ben, Sam, and Tim.
